I've never been a huge cheerleader of albums--not because I don't value them but because I'm a photographer and not an album maker... I could talk photography all day long. :) Truth be told, I'm not very crafty--I could never imagine myself scrap-booking (disaster), I find decorating a challenge, cooking rarely happens...but every time I see a Cypress Handmade Album, my jaw drops. Drop dead gorgeous. Worth every penny and them some. Here's my latest studio sample of Elizabeth and Eric's green wedding at the Headlands Center for the Arts. I'm in love all over again.

Did you see the Super Moon last Friday night? It was called a wolf moon and appeared 30% brighter and 14% larger than any other full moons we'll see this year. It was gorgeous...a moon to bathe in. I took this around 1AM and luckily, heard no howling. :)

Today the sun came out for the first time in about two weeks. I guess I missed it because it felt great! Since I live in Northern California and it's nearly February, things are starting to bloom and my friends, the bees, are getting down to business. My love of the bee and the reason it's part of my photography business is because of my sweet parents who've been married 44 years! (Story here.) In celebration of this spring sneak peek, I curled up with thoughtful gifts from Megan & Chris. It doesn't get better than some sun, Sprinkles, a bee ring & napkin and some literary bee. High five and a big squeeze to Megan & Chris. Heaven!

I started keeping a journal when I was about ten years old. It was very old school and pre-teen-private with a little lock and key on the side. I think Anne Frank was my original inspiration for keeping a journal; I loved her words. In high school my writing teacher had us start each class with fifteen minutes of stream of consciousness writing. This seemed like a dream come true for me: I could write/gush about my how much I loved my boyfriend and not get in trouble. (Ha!) At the time, the art of the journaling process was a bit lost on me but it eventually clicked. The ability to write my thoughts--uncensored & unjudged--is a huge gift and it brings me insight, clarity, a light, airy happiness and peace.
I haven't been consistent with my writing--but that's OK; my journal is always there, ready to help me process things, discover passions, desires, appreciation, relieve stress...and ironically: help me get out of my head. :) It's all within us, patiently waiting.
That's my little journal, pen ready. I joke with my sister that Anthropologie even owns my thoughts because that's where I buy my journals. I find it inviting to write in something pretty, but sometimes I write on a napkin or receipt and tuck it in the pages later. Whatever your process, enjoy the loveliness.
Thank you to Davina Fear who reminded me of the beauty of journaling.
